Police in Chino, California, have recovered approximately $30,000 worth of stolen \u201cLabubu\u201d collectible dolls taken from a warehouse over several days. The dolls, which have recently surged in popularity, were found in a home in Upland, according to the department\u2019s social media announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two suspects \u2014 both under 18 and identified as employees of the warehouse \u2014 were arrested. One attempted to flee during the search but later surrendered; the other was arrested days later in a nearby city. Both were booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detectives recovered 14 boxes of stolen merchandise along with evidence suggesting the dolls were to be resold and shipped across the country. The \u201cLabubu\u201d character, created by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung, debuted in 2015 and is sold by China\u2019s Pop Mart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
