FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 November 8, 2025.<\/strong> The Democratic mayor revealed the details during a court hearing Friday, describing the November 1 incident<\/strong> as a failed attempt to reconcile that turned violent. According to court records cited by NBC South Florida, Curran allegedly pushed the mayor<\/strong>, tackled him to the ground, and dragged him roughly 15 feet<\/strong>, leaving Trantalis with injuries to his wrist, leg, and knee.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Police arrested Curran on Wednesday after he allegedly returned to the mayor\u2019s home in violation of a domestic violence injunction<\/strong> issued in September. He faces charges of battery on a person 65 or older<\/strong>, contempt of court<\/strong>, and violating an injunction.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In his initial filing, Trantalis said he feared for his safety, alleging that Curran had previously thrown objects, pulled knives, and damaged property<\/strong> during arguments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI truly fear deadly physical harm,\u201d the mayor wrote in his injunction request.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n During his testimony Friday, Trantalis said he had hoped to help Curran seek counseling and mental health treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI thought maybe there was a way to rehabilitate Danny,\u201d he told the court. \u201cBut this past weekend, he threw me to the ground\u2026 and I realized there was no hope for this relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n The judge granted a no-contact order<\/strong>, allowing Curran to retrieve his belongings only under police supervision. No matter what.
