According to the affidavit, the driver \u2014 identified as <strong>Yazmin\u202fErazo<\/strong> \u2014 told deputies she was speeding to get to a nearby <strong>Little Caesars<\/strong> before it closed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident occurred late Thursday night, when a deputy from the Pinellas County Sheriff&#8217;s Office recorded Erazo\u2019s speed via radar, then safely conducted a traffic stop without further incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When questioned, Erazo explained she was racing toward the pizza chain\u2019s midnight closing time. She was driving a Kia at the time of the stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of <strong>dangerous and excessive speeding<\/strong>, and later released on bond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traffic\u2011safety experts warn that even when the reason for speeding seems innocuous, high speeds significantly raise the risk of severe crashes, injuries, or fatalities. But the driver\u2019s explanation \u2014 a race against a pizza closing time \u2014 adds an unusual twist to the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pinellas County law\u2011enforcement officials say the case is still under review and that they will determine whether additional charges or citations apply.
