Federal authorities allege that Natalie Greene, a former staffer for New Jersey Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew, staged a violent assault on herself on July 23 2025. Greene claimed she was attacked by three men who tied her up, slashed her body and wrote political slurs\u2014only for investigators to say the plot was manufactured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to court documents, Greene allegedly paid a body-modification artist about $500 to carve cuts into her face, neck and back hours before the incident. Evidence further suggests she purchased the same style of zip ties used to bind her\u2014some found in her own car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When investigators arrived at the scene in a nature preserve in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, they found Greene bound with her shirt pulled over her head, numerous wounds, and messages such as \u201cTRUMP WHORE\u201d and \u201cVan Drew is racist\u201d written on her body. Her and her accomplice\u2019s stories quickly diverged under FBI questioning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Greene now faces federal charges: conspiracy to convey false statements and making false statements to federal law enforcement officers. Each charge carries up to five years, meaning a combined maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison if convicted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
