Joaqu\u00edn Guzm\u00e1n L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, son of notorious drug kingpin Joaqu\u00edn \u201cEl Chapo\u201d Guzm\u00e1n Loera<\/strong> and one of the leaders of Mexico\u2019s Sinaloa Cartel<\/strong>, pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal drug-trafficking charges<\/strong>, marking one of the most significant cartel prosecutions in years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guzm\u00e1n L\u00f3pez, 39, admitted to drug conspiracy<\/strong> and engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise<\/strong>, charges that carry a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison<\/strong> and a maximum of life<\/strong>.
He has been in U.S. custody since his arrest in July 2024; a sentencing date has not yet been set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
