The Indiana Fever waived veteran forward and six-time WNBA All-Star DeWanna Bonner on Wednesday after the 37-year-old requested a trade and struggled to find her role with the team. Bonner, a two-time champion and three-time Sixth Woman of the Year, appeared in nine games this season, averaging career lows in points (7.1) and rebounds (3.8). Unable to find a trade partner, the Fever granted her release. “Despite our shared goals and excitement heading into the season, I felt the fit did not work out,” Bonner said in a statement. She ranks third all-time in WNBA games played (511) and points scored (7,546), and eighth in rebounds (3,101).

In a corresponding move, the Fever re-signed guard Aari McDonald for the remainder of the 2025 season. McDonald, 26, had a short stint with Indiana in June while Caitlin Clark was sidelined, averaging 11.0 points and 3.0 assists in three games. A former No. 3 overall pick, McDonald has played for Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Indiana across four WNBA seasons. “Although my time with the team was brief, it immediately felt like the place to be,” McDonald said. Indiana, currently 7–7, continues to build its young core around Clark while adjusting its veteran rotation midseason.
