META LAUNCHES SUPERINTELLIGENCE LABS AS ZUCKERBERG AIMS TO LEAD AI ERA

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a major restructuring of the tech giant’s artificial intelligence operations on Monday, unveiling the formation of “Meta Superintelligence Labs.” The new division will be led by Alexandr Wang, the former CEO of Scale AI, following Meta’s $15 billion investment for a 49% stake in Wang’s startup.

Zuckerberg described the initiative as part of Meta’s broader push to achieve “superintelligence,” calling it “the beginning of a new era for humanity.” Wang will serve as chief AI officer and collaborate with former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, who will head product and applied research.

The announcement triggered a positive reaction from investors, with Meta’s stock briefly climbing to $747.90 before settling around $738 — an intraday gain that solidified another all-time high. Meta shares have risen more than 23% this year, raising the company’s valuation to approximately $1.86 trillion.

As Meta intensifies its competition with OpenAI and Google, the company has ramped up recruitment of top AI talent. Zuckerberg confirmed the hiring of 11 new researchers — including four from OpenAI — as part of the aggressive push to position Meta at the forefront of AI development.
