Russia Launches Massive Pacific Fleet Exercise with 40 Warships and 5,000 Troops

Russia’s Pacific Fleet began a major naval exercise on Monday in the Far East and surrounding waters, deploying 40 warships, support vessels, and boats across designated training zones in the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan, and the Sea of Okhotsk. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the drill includes over 5,000 military personnel and civilian specialists, supported by more than 30 aircraft and helicopters from the naval air force.

The training operations are designed to enhance submarine detection, anti-ship and air defense tactics, and joint missile strikes on simulated naval targets. Coastal missile systems, including the Bastion platform, will also participate. The exercises involve scenarios to repel attacks by aircraft, drones, and unmanned maritime vehicles while conducting extended-range naval operations. The drills are scheduled to run through June 30.
