SPACEX TO DEPLOY STARLINK MINIS IN KERR COUNTY EMERGENCY VEHICLES AMID TEXAS FLOODING

SpaceX will install Starlink Mini satellite terminals in all emergency response vehicles in Kerr County, Texas, starting today, according to company Vice President Lauren Dreyer. The deployment comes amid ongoing catastrophic flooding in the region, where conventional communication systems have failed.

Emergency responders in Kerr County have reported difficulty contacting headquarters and coordinating with other Texas agencies. Standard-issue radios have proven unreliable during the disaster, further complicating rescue and recovery efforts.

The compact, portable Starlink Mini systems are designed to provide high-speed internet connectivity even in remote or disrupted areas. Officials hope the upgrade will improve coordination across flood-affected zones where infrastructure has been damaged or washed out.

The National Weather Service has issued continued flood warnings across the region, and local authorities say rescue operations remain active, with dozens still missing following the sudden surge of the Guadalupe River.
