President Donald Trump is signing an executive order today to reinstate the Presidential Fitness Test in public schools, a program once used to assess the physical health of American students.
According to CNN, Trump will be joined at the signing ceremony by several high-profile athletes, including Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, former NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor, and professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau.
The Presidential Fitness Test, discontinued in 2012, historically included a series of physical challenges — such as sit-ups, pull-ups, and timed runs — intended to measure endurance, strength, and flexibility among school-aged children.
Trump’s executive order frames the initiative as a way to combat rising childhood obesity rates and promote fitness as a core national value. Further details on how the program will be implemented have yet to be released.
