MIAMI POLICE DRONE TRACKS AND HELPS ARREST SUSPECT IN DOMESTIC DISPUTE, VIDEO SHOWS

The Drone First Responder program spotted the suspect before officers arrived, relayed real-time updates, and guided police to a safe arrest.

A Miami Police Department drone helped officers track, locate, and arrest a suspect involved in a domestic dispute last month — and the entire incident was captured on video, according to authorities.

Police say they responded to reports involving 24-year-old LeCurry Anthony Williams Jr., who allegedly shoved his girlfriend and damaged a window during the altercation.

Before patrol units arrived, the Drone First Responder (DFR) unit launched an aerial drone to the scene, giving officers an immediate vantage point. The drone quickly located Williams as he attempted to leave the area and maintained continuous visual contact as he moved.

Williams allegedly tried to change clothes in an attempt to avoid being recognized, but the live overhead feed allowed dispatchers and responding officers to track his appearance and movements in real time.

“This enhanced situational awareness allowed officers to approach and apprehend the suspect safely and without further incident,” the Miami Police Department said.

The department praised the drone’s performance, saying the DFR program continues to improve response times, officer safety, and community outcomes by giving police eyes on the scene before units arrive.

Williams was arrested without further incident.
