Jensen Huang Highlights China as a Vital Market and Significant Revenue Source
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is calling for improved trade relations between the United States and China, stating that access to the Chinese market is critical for American competitiveness in artificial intelligence technology and a “significant source of revenue” for his company.
In an interview aired on FOX Business, Huang emphasized the importance of re-entering the Chinese market to maintain the U.S. tech sector’s global leadership. He noted that the current U.S. export restrictions have halted Nvidia’s AI chip sales to China, with zero revenue expected for the next two quarters.
Huang described the stalled access as unfortunate given China represents approximately a $50 billion AI chip market, potentially growing to $200 billion by the end of the decade.
He believes that access to China benefits both countries by supporting their ecosystems and industries, and expressed hope for a resolution that allows American companies to compete fairly in China and worldwide.
The CEO’s comments come amid ongoing U.S. government export controls to limit China’s access to advanced AI chips, part of strategic efforts to maintain technology leadership over geopolitical competitors.
President Trump recently reaffirmed the ban on exporting Nvidia’s most advanced chips to China but suggested earlier that the topic might be discussed with Chinese President Xi Jinping, though it ultimately was not.
Huang’s warnings underscore the tension between national security concerns and economic interests, pressing for trade policies that balance technological edge with revenue opportunities.
Investors reacted positively to Huang’s remarks, driving Nvidia’s stock price up by over 5% in after-hours trading, signaling strong confidence in the company’s leadership navigating current trade challenges.
