SAMSUNG UNVEILS GALAXY Z TRIFOLD: A 10-INCH TRI-FOLDING SMARTPHONE HEADING TO THE U.S. IN 2026

The new “TriFold” packs a full 10-inch tablet display, dual hinges, and PC-like multitasking — but with a price tag nearly $2,500 in Korea.

Samsung has officially revealed the Galaxy Z TriFold, a radically redesigned foldable smartphone featuring three articulating sections, a 10-inch tablet-style display, and a traditional touchscreen on the outside. It launches in South Korea on December 12, with a U.S. release scheduled for early 2026.

Unlike Samsung’s Z Flip and Z Fold lines, the TriFold includes two distinct hinges using a refined Armor FlexHinge system. The center panel, at 4.2 mm thick, is noticeably larger than the two outer panels, and Samsung says the internal frame compensates for the uneven distribution of mass—allowing the device to fold tightly into a “pocketable” slab.

Huawei’s Mate XT tri-fold phones inspired chatter online, but they don’t sell in Western markets. Samsung’s design differs: Huawei uses a Z-folding configuration, while Samsung folds the ends inward behind a separate 6.5-inch cover display. The company claims the hinges are tested for years of daily use.

DIMENSIONS, DISPLAY & MULTITASKING

Folded, the Galaxy Z TriFold measures 12.9 mm thick — bulkier than the Z Fold 7’s 8.9 mm, but only slightly thicker than older Galaxy Fold models. The cover screen is 6.5 inches (1080p), similar to Samsung’s latest foldables.

Unfold the device, and you’re met with a 10-inch 2160 x 1584 OLED, running at 120 Hz and capable of powering three apps side-by-side. It supports full Samsung DeX, turning the TriFold into a portable workstation without an external monitor.

Powering that giant screen is a 5,600 mAh triple-cell battery, which is only modestly larger than traditional phones — meaning battery life may be a trade-off for heavy multi-app usage on the massive display.

At 309 grams, the device is very heavy even by foldable standards.

SPECS & CAMERA

Inside, the Galaxy Z TriFold shares most hardware with the Galaxy Z Fold 7:

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512GB storage
  • 200 MP flagship camera sensor
  • 12 MP ultrawide
  • 10 MP 3x telephoto

The rear camera bump is pronounced, similar to Samsung’s latest Ultra-series designs.

PRICE & RELEASE

Samsung will release the TriFold in South Korea on Dec. 12 for ₩3,590,400 KRW (about $2,460 USD).
This is roughly $500 more than the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

A U.S. launch is scheduled for Q1 2026, though no pricing is confirmed — but expectations suggest something in the $2,500+ range.
