BOXING STAR ANTHONY JOSHUA REPORTEDLY INJURED IN DEADLY CAR CRASH IN NIGERIA

The heavyweight champion was hospitalized with minor injuries after a collision on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway that reportedly killed two people, just days after his knockout win over Jake Paul.

Renowned heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was reportedly injured in a fatal car crash in southwest Nigeria on Monday, according to local media citing a police statement.

The accident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, when the vehicle carrying Joshua allegedly collided with a stationary truck. Joshua was seated in the back of the car with three other occupants.

Reports indicate that two people were killed in the crash. Joshua was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries, authorities said.

Videos circulating on social media show Joshua appearing dazed inside the damaged vehicle before being assisted by bystanders at the scene.

POLICE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collision. Officials said it remains unclear whether anyone was inside the truck at the time of impact.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, and no further official details were immediately available.

COMES DAYS AFTER HIGH-PROFILE FIGHT

The crash occurred just 10 days after Joshua’s high-profile bout in Miami, where he knocked out Jake Paul in the sixth round.

Following news of the crash, Paul posted a message of sympathy on X:

“Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident.”
